Arch Enemy – New Album "Deceivers" (2022)

Arch Enemy is a Swedish Melodic Death Metal band. The founder of the band, Michael Amott, was running a music store in Halmstad, Sweden, which he opened in 1995 after Carcass disbanded, after playing guitar in bands like Candlemass, Carcass. Amott decided to form a band in 1996, with Armageddon guitarist and his brother Christopher Amott as the second guitarist; Sharlee d'Angelo, who also played in Witchery, Ill will and Mercyful Fate, as the bass guitarist, and John Liiva (Carnage) as the vocalist and Daniel Erlandsson (Eucharist) on drums; and currently only Ammot and Erlandsson exists on the band from the original line-up. Liiva (1996 Black Earth; 1998 Stigmata; 1999 Burning Bridges), which was included in the first three albums, was later replaced by Angela Gossow, one of the best female brutal vocalists, who contributed greatly to the popularity of the group. Sharlee D'Angelo, who joined the band as a bass player in 1999, is still on the band's roster. The popularity of the group, which released the albums Wages of Sin (2001), Anthems of Rebellion (2003), Doomsday Machine (2005), Rise of the Tyrant (2007), Khaos Legions (2011) with Gossow, continued to increase rapidly. Their biggest hit was the album War Eternal, which they released in 2014 and signed a magnificent song with the same name. In this album, Alissa White-Gluz, who is considered one of the most "hot chicks" of Canadian rock music, took over the flag instead of Gossow. He made his debut on the Canadian Idol game show in 2006 before appearing in an Extreme Metal band called White-Gluz Agonist. I think War Eternal is one of the best songs in metal music history. The song, which draws attention with its guitar riffs and the dual harmony of Amott and Cordle, deserves all the praise, especially with its awesome double guitar solo. Of course, Nick Cordle, who was an engineer on that album and also played the guitar and keyboard and composed the compositions, has a great share in the guitar parts of the song. Fortunately, they replaced Cordle, who left the band after the album, with another guitar virtuoso, Jeff Loomis (Nevermore), but Cordle was still a great loss for the band.

Their debut with Loomis, the band's tenth album, Will To Power, was released on September 7, 2017. The first single, The World Is Yours, was released in July and The Eagle Flies Alone was released in August. The album, which entered the list in all countries including the US Billboard, again made a sound as a successful work in the style of Melodic Death Metal.

On October 21, 2021, the music video for their new single "Deceiver, Deceiver" premiered. On December 10, 2021, they released a music video for another single, "House of Mirrors". In particular, the single Handshake With Hell, released on February 4, 2022, was liked by Alissa's clean vocals for the first time and reached three million views in a short time. On January 27, 2022, Arch Enemy announced that they will be releasing their long-awaited 11th album, Deceivers, on July 29, 2022.

First of all, all three songs are beautiful, Amott and Loomis' guitar harmonies and their magnificent solos as if they are adoring each other, d'Angelo on bass and Erlandsson on drums contribute to the group with the same harmony and beauty. On the other hand, Alissa's clean vocal, which we saw for the first time in Arch Enemy, added a different color to the album beyond all praise. Can we comment on the album by looking at the first 3 songs? Definitely yes, I can say, a great album is coming...
